Taurus Handguns
Security had been the most upfront and concerning hot issue around the world. With more problems arising due to various clashes of thought processes, even people at the smallest scale are affected with the problem of securing their lives. Although weapons are not considered to be good in general, at crunch time, nothing becomes handier than a weapon. Be it pepper spray, a knife or a pistol of some sort. It is basic human instinct. The instinct of survival and security. Everyone wants to keep on living because life is precious. It has value, priceless value that must be forever protected.
Taurus Firearms is a firm that produces handguns for the same purpose. It might seem like an anti-hero approach to the security problem, but it is the best way. Taurus values life more than anything, and it is ready to go beyond any limits to give people the power to protect themselves. Taurus Firearms is the brainchild of Forjas Taurus, a small tool manufacturer in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He started in 1941 by producing the first Model 38101SO revolver, combining technology elements from Colt, Smith & Wesson, and select Spanish-manufactured handguns. This gave him the push to go further into Handgun manufacturing.
Taurus firearms were then introduced to U.S. consumers in 1968 through a limited channel of America-based distributors. This made the American conglomerate company Bangor Punta Corp. take notice. Then-owners of Smith & Wesson, Bangor Punta Corp. purchased a controlling interest in Taurus. As sister companies, Taurus and S&W shared technology, with both companies benefitting significantly from Taurus engineering and manufacturing advances. But the partnership with Smith & Wesson stopped here. The controlling interest of Taurus was re-acquired in 1977 by the company principals, severing ties with the Smith & Wesson brand and initiating a diversified expansion program in handgun development and manufacturing.
Following Beretta’s completion of a contract to manufacture small arms for the Brazilian Army, Taurus purchased the entirety of Beretta’s Sao Paulo operation in 1980, including technical specifications, tooling, and machinery and also acquired the company’s experienced workforce. This acquisition led to the development of the renowned Taurus PT92 9mm stainless pistol and PT99 9mm Taurus handguns. In 1982, the company sought to make themselves more accessible in America. Seeking to grow prominence in the American firearm market, Taurus created an affiliate company based in Miami, Florida, to make Taurus pistols for sale for the U.S. customers, their needs and to also establish a formative distributor network to put Taurus pistols in the hands of U.S. consumers.
Not only this, but Taurus also attracted its customers by its excellent customer service. Taurus showed the ultimate commitment to its consumers and confidence in its products by establishing the firearm industry’s first Lifetime Repair Policy in 1984. This ground-breaking move by Taurus has only recently been matched but never exceeded. Since the purchase of Beretta in 1980, Taurus immediately forged ahead with improving what could not be improved upon. The result is the always popular, and highly acclaimed Taurus PT92 9mm stainless pistol.
The Taurus PT92 9mm stainless pistol comes in two models, the matte black LUGER and the polished stainless LUGER. After the successful Taurus PT92 9mm stainless pistol, Taurus started the manufacture of the PT-22 and PT-25 pistols in 1991. These were the first of many handguns to be developed in the United States. Taurus received the coveted and prestigious ISO 9001 manufacturing designation in 1999 from the International Organization for Standardization in recognition of the company’s superior manufacturing and marketing practices. This made Taurus one of two firearm companies in the world to achieve ISO 9001 certification.
The company was set to innovate with momentum on their side. Believing that premium handgun performance can and should be available to consumers without the premium pricing so common in the industry, Taurus took the bold move of streamlining its product lines to increase manufacturing efficiencies and to deliver lower price points while further boosting quality control. The company started expanding to various locations to increase its spread and market coverage. This led to the company opening a new spot in Bainbridge, Georgia, thus effectively shifting their base of operations to this location as well. And now, after months of anticipation, Taurus USA in Bainbridge is officially open, the multi-million-dollar facility manufactures premium handguns.
Long-term success is often measured in small victories and modest accomplishments. Taurus has been steadily laying the foundations of success for over 80 years—all while keeping focused on the future. The approach to advancing firearm manufacturing technology and performance innovations has always been the guiding force in the development of Taurus defensive, hunting, and competition firearms. Guns & Ammo magazine awarded Taurus the 2019 Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year Award for the competition-ready Taurus TX™ 22—a groundbreaking 22LR semi-auto introduced earlier in the year. This, of course, was preceded by the Taurus Raging Hunter™ revolver receiving the American Hunter 2019 Hunting Handgun of the Year Golden Bullseye Award.
Taurus has committed to making available more Taurus handguns for sale along with better consumer experiences and with even better service and new product innovations. As more shooters take up handguns for recreation, competition, and to exercise their right of self-protection, Taurus is committed to servicing the growing firearm community by setting new standards in performance, manufacturing excellence, innovation and value — not only right now but in the decades to come.
